Code F runway expansion project for Al Najaf International Airport, Iraq

Code F runway expansion project for Al Najaf International Airport, Iraq

On behalf of Noon Stride (UAE) and their clients NIA, and Manhal Al Habbobi Consultants, Fjori provided technical review and advisory services for the new runway designs at Al Najaf International Airport (NJF), Iraq. Due to the rapid growth of people visiting the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala, the resulting increase in passenger demand required the extension of Najaf International Airport (NIA) facilities and enlargement of its capacity of both the airfield and passenger terminal facilities. To plan for the capital development to meet this increase in traffic, NIA Management hired an international consultant which made the thorough study and prepared a comprehensive master plan to extend the airport in three stages (short, medium and long terms). The first stage includes the addition of a new runway, taxiways the supporting facilities. The runway production design was carried out by CAAC Shanghai New Era Airport Design & Research Institute Co. Ltd for the Contractor. Fjori is providing detailed design review services for all aspects including runway planning, pavement engineering, earthworks, drainage modelling and engineering, AGL, Navaids and ICAO compliance.
